Mossy Letter DIY

Have you seen all of those gorgeous live moss art designs in trendy boutiques and other businesses?  I just love them! While I haven’t taken the time to investigate how to care for live moss, let alone dream up a design to incorporate a piece into my personal décor, I have just recently created a very easy diy project. This simple project can easily be completed in under 30 minutes, and requires only a few every day tools and a bag of dried moss.  I’m looking forward to creating a live moss piece in the future, but for now, I’m really enjoying my dried moss décor that I don’t have to mist and care for frequently. Check out the details below for a quick and easy diy.

Step 1: Gather your tools and project items

  1. Tacky Craft Glue
  2. Pencil
  3. Scissors
  4. Cardboard
  5. Letter Template
  6. Dried Moss

Step 2:  Trace your desired letter on your piece of cardboard.  I used a wooden cutout that I purchased from Hobby Lobby a few years ago. In a pinch, you could just print off a letter in your word processing program by using your favorite font. Just cut it out and trace.  If you are printing a letter, I suggest printing it on cardstock so it will be easy to trace.

Step 3: Cut out your letter.

Step 4: Messy time!  Apply small to medium portions of glue to each spot on your letter and cover with dried moss, gently pressing and covering spaces as needed.

Step 5: Gently shake off any excess moss and apply more glue and moss to any bare places.

Step 6: Display your mossy letter and share this idea with your friends! I’d love to see how you displayed your beautiful creation.  Post your ideas on our facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/JustBeyondtheCottonwoods/
